What Lovers Do
Will you fall in love with someone only because you both have just watched Casablanca?
This old-school kind of romance that people now a day are still searching for. Desperately.
How would you feel about sitting beneath the stars, having dinner with "champagne and caviar" and again, "making love on a long, hot summer's night" in an old Chevrolet?
Having sex, for me, will be described as satisfying needs, discovering yourself and others, it is a unique way of human communication, a language that we are appealed to learn, it is wild and passionate rather than romantic. It sometimes, likes a hunting games where both the predators and the preys want to win.
Dating, when we're all dress up, new perfume on our necks and well make-up on our faces. We're being the best version of ourselves, we turn ourselves into princes and princesses, struggle to make sure that we're attractive enough to the partner. I find it's cute, but the romantic level is low since it involves some kind of unnecessary stress and acting.
So what is the most romantic thing that lovers do?
I think romance does not all the time, happens on beds or beneath the stars, it happens a lot at the supper markets, Tesco Lotus, Big C, for example.
I never see anyone goes to the supper market not being themselves. Will you go to the supper market for the cabbage and come back with the cucumber? No you won't. You go to the supper market because of you, and not to impress anyone (except if you want to flirt with the pretty cashier). You go there with your most comfy clothes and unmasked faces so you can chill as long as you want.
I find it is most romantic when couples do shopping with each other at the supper markets. When you two are in front of thousands goods and offers but really have to have power to control yourself and control the partner. All the discussions and the observations that you two have is a great way to learn about the other.
You will have to acknowledge about the budget, about the basic needs and the references of the person that you're with. "I know what kind of shampoo suits your hair and you know my favorite kind of fruits. I will cook your favorite steam chicken tonight so let's crash to the meat section. I'm having period next week will need to buy sanitary pads. Oops, we ran out of toilet paper let's go and pick some." During shopping, you also show how much you care and how much care you received. You will have to share the mutual information as well as the responsibilities. This, I believe, is priceless in relationship. Because this activity creates connection and deeper understanding between each other. From understanding to accepting, from accepting to loving. It is all about human nature. It is realistic and can not be faked.
And, at the end of the day, men or women, no matter how strong or weak we are, admit it: everyone needs a person to help carrying the grocery bags back home. Who would not fall for the person who take away our burdens?
